The church was built in 1826–1840 on the estate of Count Andrei Shuvalov to a classicist design by David Visconti. It has a semicircular apse to the east and porticoes on the other sides; the bell tower was added in 1871. In 1936 the church was closed and turned into a club, later a warehouse. The parish received the ruined building in 1991; in 1994 it was given to the metochion of the St John Convent and consecrated after repairs in 1996.
The painting was carried out in 2006 with the blessing of Abbess Serafima. Work began with restoring and preparing the walls.
