Cathedral of the Kursk Root Icon of the Sign, Znamensky Convent, Yelets

The Znamensky Convent has a history of several centuries. It stands on Stone Hill and has survived several fires; its bell tower was completed by the mid-19th century. Today the convent has sisters’ residences, a refectory, the bell tower and a new brick wall with three gates and four towers.

Since 2004 the cathedral has been restored to its former appearance, including its murals. We painted the walls of the cathedral, from preparing the surfaces to the painting itself.
