The Holy Forerunner Monastery was founded in 1925 in Transcarpathia and later moved to Bedevlia. In the mid-20th century, during the persecution of the Church, it was closed; its revival began in 1990. Today it has the Church of St John the Baptist, a winter church dedicated to the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God, a refectory church and monks’ quarters.
The murals were painted in silicate paints. We began work on the walls only after the composition of the whole church had been carefully worked out.
