Icon painting: selected works

Icon painting is a distinct art with its own aesthetics and spiritual meaning. The painter must choose colours in keeping with the meaning of the icon, place the figures of the saints correctly and follow the proper order of layers.

An icon is made in several stages:

1. preparing the panel
2. applying the gesso ground
3. painting the icon
4. sealing with boiled linseed oil

We use the finest materials and paint icons gilded with gold leaf. The image is chosen together with the client: a family patron saint, a name-saint icon or a church icon — full-length or half-length.
